ON COVER – Outcrop of the northern flank of the Valsorda valley in the dolomitized Latemar Platform (Dolomites, northern Italy). The brown color of the hydrothermal dolomite stands out versus the gray limestone showing the complex geometry and distribution of dolomite bodies. This color difference is used to objectively and quantitatively describe the distribution of dolomite and limestone on a high resolution colored three-dimensional digital outcrop model and create a three-dimensional variography description. The resulting description confirmed the inferred dolomitization process and shows the controls (dikes, stratigraphy) on the dolomite body geometry and distribution on different scales. This approach also allows direct implementation of outcrop lithology information into reservoir modelling workflows. The image on the back cover shows the dolomite (yellow) and limestone (gray) distribution in a reservoir model, eroded by the current topography. See related
